The Olive Tree: The Richest Gift of Nature an eTwinning Project

World Olive Tree Day
Olive has been a gift to mankind. It consists of health along with the goodness of nature inside it. It is fair and square to dedicate one day to this offering by Mother Nature. The world celebrates ‘World Olive Tree Day’ on November 26, every year.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) embarked on the day in its 40th session. UNESCO took this step in line with its mission for environmental stability. As the concerns for climate change is increasing as the days pass, Olive Tree Day will give significance to its natural and cultural conservation programs.
The aim and objective to celebrate ‘World Olive Tree Day’ every year are to inspire the protection and plantation of olive trees. The day is not only eminent to protect the olive trees but also the values and impressions the tree is a resemblance of.

Art Exhibition

İstanbul Avni Akyol Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi Posters
Our students prepared posters mainly about olives and olive trees in art. They searched about the famous painters who painted olive trees. They found out that many painters such as Van Gogh, Matisse, Dali, etc... painted about olives. They also made researches about the importance of the olive in mythology, history. They prepared posters about these topics.

After our project is accepted, we selected volunteer students to work for the project.
Their parents filled the permission forms and then we registered them to Twinspace.

The Olive Tree: The Richest Gift of Nature Working Plan
Our project will start in March 2021 and end in June 2021.
All students will be gathered into teams.Each team will include students from different schools and one teacher. Each team will have activities about the curriculum they have and activities will be done by using Web2 tools.

First Meeting: Getting to Know Each Other & E-Safety
Our first student meeting took place over ZOOM. In the first session of the meeting, each student first introduced themselves. While promoting their own culture, they also had the opportunity to get to know other cultures. Students introduced their age, school, hobbies and pets about themselves at the meeting.
In the second session of the meeting, students shared their knowledge and presentations about e-security. In this way, students' awareness of e-security has increased. They learned how to use the internet securely.
